Being intuitive is a skill that every spiritual seeker wishes to express, after all, intuition answers all the big questions; why am I here, what is my purpose, how can I best embody and express my divinity?
However, many people believe that being intuitive requires specials gifts, or extensive training. And because so many people have difficulty accessing intuitive information, it can definitely feel like it must be an inherited, or acquired, trait.
But intuition is actually a form of divine communication, encoded into every person, no matter their level of spiritual training. And where it can feel like accessing intuitive guidance is impossible, it is actually impossible to not receive it.
Because intuitive guidance is always available, it’s helpful to know the common blocks that may be keeping that intuitive guidance at a distance.
Intuition is not a guarantee.
Someone may decide that they hate their job, and want to get into a new line of work. They may have a gut feeling that this is the right thing to do, however, it feels scary to make such a big life change. At this point, most people will look toward their intuition to give them a vision of the future; the promise of a long and successful career in this new field. However, intuition is actually that gut feeling telling them to make the career change.
Intuition serves the soul, not the personality.
The personality loves to live in the comfort zone, where everything feels safe and familiar. So every choice of the personality will be based on this need for safety. However, the soul has a need for growth and experience, which cannot be obtained within the comfort zone. Because intuition is meant to serve the soul, this means intuitive guidance will require a step into the unknown.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Intuition can be likened to a GPS system. If someone is traveling across the country, they don’t get upset with their GPS because they didn’t travel instantly through time and space from point A to point B. Instead, they follow the guidance, step by step, which eventually leads them from point A to point B. There may be detours along the way, in which case, their GPS will “re-route” them, so once again, they get on track.
This is how intuitive guidance works; step by step into the unknown, re-routing when necessary.
Following intuition is really an act of faith. It’s surrendering to the unknown, as all the great spiritual masters and teachers have done throughout time. Intuitive guidance provides the necessary tools to get out of the comfort zone of the personality, and into life’s great adventure where the soul can fully express itself.
